Art

It is not the language of painters but the language of nature which one should listen to, the feeling for the things themselves, for reality, is more important than the feeling for pictures.
VINCENT VAN GOGH

I enjoy painting figurative subjects, particularly portraits. In my art, I try to capture the essence of the human state of mind through highly textural and emotive depictions of figures and faces. By deconstructing them into layers of texture, synchronised colour or line work, I invite viewers to take a closer look at my subjects, to get a deeper sense of the emotion that lay within. My figures are bold but rendered sensitively to draw out the vulnerabilities of each character.

Just as I enjoy using metaphors and symbolism in brand design, I include signs and messages in my art, be it through the use of abstract elements, poignant words, a figure's pose or the subtle look in a person’s face. My style is graphical yet sensitive, with an interplay of colour and texture, combining my graphic design skills with artistic spontaneity. With this, I aim to create works that are refined but with a contemporary edge.
